I got my 9200 yesterday and experienced a problem with lockups. Here's the situation. When I pressed a button on my ccf which jumped to a panel on the macro side, the remote would lock up and have to be reset. This would occur regardless of what ccf I downloaded (even the default ccf). I tried reinstalling the firmware several times, even uninstalled, redownloaded, and reinstalled Touchscreen Setup and then reflashed the firmware. Nothing helped. I eventually found that I could still get to the macro side by pressing the macro icon. If, after downloading a ccf, I went to the macro side with the macro icon, and then jumped to the device side, everything worked fine. This appears to be a firmware problem that effects some, but not all 9200's (and maybe 5200's). So to summarize, I could clear the lockup problem by going to the macro side with the macro icon. Then jumping to a panel on the device side resulted in no more lockups. This worked 3 out of 3 times. When I say jump I mean a button that jumped to a specific panel on the device side. Not a backwards jump or pressing the device icon. Andrea: I be interested if yours displays this problem. I know Bear's doesn't. Jim L

So, you didn't read my second note.... If you disable the "Macro Menu Active" and deactivate it you will find this also resolves the problem. The other thing I included is that the "Macro" tab is not displaying any panel titles. We seem to have a bug or 2 with the 9200's at the moment.... Bear

Duh, Well no I didn't notice your second e-mail (I had quite a few). So I guess there's two ways around the problem. Either go to the macro side and jump to the device side, or disable the macro menu. After clearing the problem my way, the macro tab DOES display the panel titles. This may affect most if not all 9200's. When I get more time I'm going to summarize this and fire off an e-mail to Marantz tech support. Jim L

My turn for the Duh!!!! The reason I was not getting the panel titles is normal... if you disable devices or macro menus then the titles will not be displayed in the tabs. Bear

Marantz is sold through local authorized dealers throughout the world. I would suggest you check with a local dealer for a 9200. You can check their website for information. www.marantz.com Or you could check with www.hifi.com . They are the ONLY authorized internet seller of Marantz products. Good luck, JJP

I think I found another little "glitch" with the 9200. I've been trying to set up the IR Extender. It wouldn't work, at all when I first got things setup. In order to get it working, I had to setup the remote for RF ON THE REMOTE ITSELF, even though I had configured my device for RF on TouchScreenEdit prior to downloading. Later, when I downloaded an "improved" version of my ccf, once again I had to setup the remote. Unless I'm somehow mistaken, it seems that TouchScreenEdit won't automatically configure the remote for RF. Jim L

Jim...Are you saying that the DL to the 9200 has the effect of reverting the device selection back to IR from RF and the only way around it is to re-select RF for the device from the 9200 itself??? -Bruce alpha2data on eBay

Bruce, Well, now I'm not sure. It seemed like that was what was going on the 1st two times I downloaded a ccf to the remote. But the third time I downloaded a ccf to the remote, it worked fine without reseting the remote. In the next day or too I'll try to check it out further and post the results. Jim L

Damn, now you tell me!!! Where were you while I was creating the flat spot on my forehead trying to figure this out (talking about the B&W icons)??? Bear This message was edited by Bear on 01/26/02 23:21.59.

Bear, Sorry, I posted this in an earlier thread, can't remember which one, but the topic was misleading. I think I was wrong about the RF device having to programmed on the remote, the last 3 ccfs I loaded didn't have to be reset. Jim L

That's ok, the flat forehead is somewhat of an improvement. I have been looking over your CCF seeing how you handled different issues. I do like the "IR Codes" device you created.... I hope you don't mind if I do something somewhat similar. For the 5000 I included the codes in the device itself and had hidden panels for the hard keys functions. Your idea makes more sense. Looking forward to your completed CCF. Cheers for now, Bear

Thanks Bear, I didn't hide the IR panels so I could access all IR codes if I needed to relearn. I have recently duplicated the IR codes panels for devices that I'm controlling by the IR extender and placed them hidden in the appropriate device. This wastes memory but there's more than I'll ever use anyway. I certainly don't mind if you use whatever. Send me a copy of yours when you get farther along. I need some more ideas myself. Hello all! Bomberjim, just to clarify can you now press a button on your ccf which jumps to a panel on the macro side without your remote locking up? The ccf I've been playing with on the emulator jumps from the home page to the macro side & then from there to a device panel but I also still have the macro tab active. Thanks, Paul.
