I currently have a Denon AVR3200, Wega 32"XBR. Pioneer DVD 414, Dish Network DSS and a Sony VCR. I imagine the Pronto will work with the DVD, TV, VCR, and DSS but will it work with my Denon. I have been unsucessful in getting my tv and dss remotes to work the receiver, thus my need for another remote. Does anyone have the pronto and the Denon AVR 3200? Please advise. Also, please list the units that you have that the pronto was unable to control.

The only names I see popping up on a
regular basis are the 'Vision Touch' based
Sony ES stuff, and certain Pioneer RPTVs

A few devices have one or two buttons that can't seem to be learned (on any remote) and really I don't know why... for instance, one user reported the PIP button on his Sony TV wouldn't learn properly. On my own set, the ANT button wouldn't work. It's possible they're semi-macro buttons.

If your dishnetwork reciever uses RF instead of IR on the remote it will not work with the pronto .( I own the JVC/DISH combo that uses uhf radio frequencies and therefore cannot be used with any universal remote that transmits in infra red only)

Max,

While this is true out of the box, if you are handy with a soldering iron, you can convert your JVC/DISH unit into a RF/IR model.

There have been several threads on this topic if you care to do a search.

I have the 36 XBR VVega and have had no problems programming any of the functions, even all the PIP functions. Now for the E9000ES, that's a whole different story.

Max,

Just take your time and be careful, you should be fine. I'm not an electronics wizard and I was succesful with my 4000. I even wired it slightly wrong the first time as my model was slightly different than the posted diagram. I then traced the circuits back, which I believe was suggested in the procedure, and that took care of the problem.

Works like a charm now. I have my model 4000 in my den which I control via IR...not with a pronto yet because mine is still on backorder...and I have the unit connected via coax to a tv in my bedroom. I can use the 4000 in the bedroom with UHF. Having IR/UHF is the best of both worlds!

I haven't seen the inside of the JVC DVHS unit but if it's similar to my 4000, the daughterboard that is to be modified is easily detached from the motherboard so if you totally screw it up you could probably replace it with an older model daughterboard. I'm sure you won't fry it though...

I couldn't get my Pronto to control my Pioneer receiver.
It is a VSX-D3S.
Am I doomed to have two remotes now??

Michael,
I just finished teaching my Pronto the IR for an RCA DRD515RB DSS receiver. I did have problems at first but followed a suggestion I saw here and separated them further(1.5 feet ??) and then things worked fine. This was the only device that I had this problem with. Good luck.

Tom,
I think I have successfuly modified the Dvhs unit so that it now seems to be working thru the infra red eye. Here is my problem, the remote that came with it is suppose to transmit both uhf and IR.I tried to learn the IR command using the learning remote of my Yamaha A1.It looks like its learning something (from the flashing of the learn LED!)but it is not operating the unititself. The Yamaha remote had no problem learning codes from any other remote. I dont know if the JVC remote is actually transmitting IR or is it a problem with my learning remote.Any comments?
