I'm trying to decide if the Pronto is worth the expense as a replacement for my RC2000. What would make it very useful to me is if any button can be assigned to operate a macro. Can I do this or do I have to go into a special macro list to execute the macros? Thanks for any info.

Right this instant? No. With ProntoEdit? Yes.

You can even create a device macro which executes when you select that device. You don't need ProntoEdit to do that. I find that invaluable to switch TV and preamp inputs automatically when changing between sources.
While the RC2000 has the ability, you have to hold down the device button for two seconds and then press the play button, which makes no sense from a usability standpoint...

Read the review. It tells you how to assign the macro.
