Jack or AHP,

Do you know if the hard buttons can have
varying meaning depending on the Active Device
Template?

You can't do it without the software, but
it would be a very nice with the Software
if you could set it up.

For example: on one screen of my VCR device
I would want the up/down buttons to perform
the functions of the jog-shuttle. In another
I might want the buttons to ff/rew.

I know one way to do this might be to create
2 devices VCR1/VCR2 where these buttons have
different functions. However, that is not
as elegant as what I propose...

Sean,
Yes, no problem. Global assignments apply unless buttons are taught otherwise on any template. I also thought that this was possible without software although I may be wrong...there's been a lot of toing and froing as of late.
Have a search of other threads as I thought this was covered(and possible) elsewhere.
In any case, with softare, no problem, based on each device.

Jack,

Maybe I used the wrong terminology... What
I want is ONE template for ONE VCR, but
depending on what page of that ONE template I'm
on,I want the hard buttons to take different
actions.

Sorry Sean, the hard buttons are stored at the device level, not the page level. The only thing I can suggest is using jumps at the end of action lists to switch between two or more devices. A device can be a single page, so the effect would be very similar - you'd just provide the page navigation icons yourself, rather than relying on the default scroll up/scroll down ones.

The bad news is that you'd need ProntoEdit to do this. Hang in there, shouldn't be long now.
