I talked directly with a Phillips rep doing the Pronto demo at CES. He indicated that the pronto edit software put on the Phillips website will not contain product IR codes (other than Phillips/Marantz) due to legal concerns of placing the intellectual property rights of other companies on the internet. What have others heard from Phillips concerning IR product codes on the web?
I suggested to rep that Phillips at least offer the IR codes via of CD rom to registered owners. He liked the suggestion but doubted Phillips would do that.

ZAPMAN, In fact there are companies who sell other IR remotes who have captured codes for many equipment and SELL them to other mfrs, like Philips. Therefore, I would suspect that IR codes will not be made available(free). This is the whole reason for prontoedit.com, which will have posted CCF (learned) Pronto files and can be freely exchanged. It is further hoped that mfrs will learn and post their codes directly as well. prontoedit.com already has icon files for use in pronto posted and searchable. Have a look. Jack
