Anyone knows when the software going to be out? I can't wait. It's almost mid-Jan. now. I guess when Philips said January, it means end of January.

I got a response from Philips support in Palo Alto and they indicated that it would be the end of February now. Arrgh!

I am really disspointed. I hope the rumor is not true. ProntoEdit will resolve a lot of UI issues I have with Pronto. If someone from Philips is listen, please release it ASAP.

I'd rather it be a little late than buggy.

This is one of those rare cases where I would rather have something less than perfect instead of waiting for a fully debugged version. :)

I am sure that it is good enough for what I want to do and I am really foaming at the mouth waiting for this one. I want to re-order my template pages, and I am dying to create a template that has 2 sets of arrow keys on it.

Geez, I can't stand thinking about the software anymore because it sounds so cool that if I do, I will never get any work done. I can't believe I just said that about a remote control! Never in a million years, well you get the picture. :)

According to the infamous Jack, not too many problems exist with ProntoEdit in its present form. I understand the "true" release is simply enhanced in a few areas. Too bad Philips doesn't release a beta version for public use. I'd rather tolerate a few bugs and get on with it than to wait ANY more time!

I agree. This is not going to be a software where I need to use it all the time. I just want to be able to customize my macro templates so I can get the best features of this remote. With the current template setup, my family is still having problems using it. Philips help!!!!

Without ProntoEdit is like buying a Porsche without the high performance tires. It drives fast but it is just not the same. ProntoEdit is going to make Pronto one of the best universal remote out there. I keep checking the Philips web site to see if ProntoEdit is posted. Hope they do it soon.

Does anyone have Beta copy?

Why not just release the beta version and offer no support for it. I can cope with that better than I can with having to wait another month and a half.
Hey, software companies do it all the time(release the beta as a final product).
Support? Who needs support. We have Jack!

To AHP,
Can you tell us how long we will have to wait before the software is released?
If it is going to be at the end of February (hope not) as someone indicated in the thread above, can we have a copy of the beta version posted here or at prontoedit.com? After all, Philips has indicated willingness to post software free to current pronto onwers. We will use it at our risk.
The wait is doing a number on me and I am sure to many others too.

Tony.

I talked with the guys at CES. One of the people I talked with was the main software engineer for the Pronto. He guarenteed release by the end of the month. Another guy was standing there and asked about the cables and guess what? We both got a cable while we were there. I wish he'd have parted with the software too. hehehehe

I received an email yesterday from product support. "Check back at this site by the end of January" but I've been in software long enough to know that if you hear two dates its always the one further out.

I'm with the rest of the Thread, if I could get unsupported Beta, I'd be happy as a clam (I've never known what that means).

Just one more vote for getting the software out, bugs and all, for now. We'll fix the problems with the official release later.

I also agree. If someone has the beta release, give it to us. I'll deal with any and all risk that's associated with a beta version.

If you don't want to post it in fear of upsetting Philips before it's 'real' release, send it via e-mail and we'll privately pass it around.

Of course, this could already be happening, and if so, add me to that list. ;-)

Craig.
