I purchased (and subsequently returned after playing with the Pronto) a Sony RM-AV2000 Controller. One of the built-in features was "Turn-on" all Sony components and also a "Turn-off" all Sony products. These features are basically built-in macros into the product. I have a couple of Sony components (DVD Changer, Mini Disc Recorder and DSS Receiver) and was able to capture the codes to turn-on the MD and DSS (The Sony controller was unable to power-on or off my DVD player [DVP-C600D 5 DVD Changer]).
Once I have the Pronto Edit software I will upload the on and off codes for the Sony MD and DSS.
If you need codes for other Sony equipment you might see if your dealer has Sony RM-AV2000 Controller and you could load the codes into your Pronto. The Sony controller flashes the LCD with the Device that it is turning on/off so that it is fairly easy to capture the specific IR signal to control your device. The controller appears to be able to turn-on/off TV, VCR, MD, DSS, DVP, CD, Cassette and DVD devices (even though it didn't work with my DVD). The Sony controller sends out several (2-3 IR commands) for the VCR, etc. so I am assuming that Sony has different codes for different models.
I find having the specific on/off is very handy in macros, for example, if I record off of the DSS the DSS will shut-off after recording. So I have a macro whenever I select DSS to turn-on the device.
