I'm trying to convert RC6 to learned hex using genIRDB (v12), but get an error "subscript out of range". I'm using rc6.irp from deviceLib.zip included with genIRDB. Any help? Any other way to convert RC6 to learned hex? BTW, I'm trying to convert device 4, codes 63 & 142 (supposedly power discretes for philips dvd).

Thanks!

Allow me to be more specific: I used 4 as the system code. I used 63 and 142 as the command code. There is no "Device" or "Code" for the Philips RC6 code set.

I just enhanced my copy of MakeHex because I couldn't figure out how to do RC6 without this enhancement. It generates

Device Code: 4 Function: 63
0000 0073 0000 0014 0060 0020 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0BE1

Device Code: 4 Function: 142
0000 0073 0000 0013 0060 0020 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0020 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0010 0010 0010 0010 0020 0010 0BD1

I assume we all understand that in RC5 and RC6 the Device number is called "system code" and the command or function number is called "command code".

I'm emailing the enhanced MakeHex and RC6.IRP to a few people. If other want it, ask.

Thanks RC Geek & johnsfine!

Sorry for my abuse of "device" and "code" in RC6 context. Yes, I mean system code and command code. Thanks for setting me straight. :)

RC6 4,142 indeed works as power off (for my Yamaha DVD-C940). I was guessing that RC6 4,63 was power on, but it doesn't work. Power off is the better one to have anyway since I can use play or stop as discrete on.

johnsfine, I've been using MakeHex with great success for some of my other non-RC6 stuff. In case I get more command codes for my dvd player, would you be able to email the updated MakeHex & rc6.irp?

BTW, in case anyone is curious, I'm actually using a MX-500 remote. I drop the learned code into ravedit, convert the ccf to m5 with ccf2mx, then use irclone to save to the remote. Now that I've got a valid RC6 learned format, it works great!

Thanks again for your help!

I thought I was the one most seriously "abusing" that terminology. It's hard not to, since I work with decoding and encoding tools that use the same terminology "device", "subdevice", etc. across all protocols, whether that terminology matches the official terminology for each protocol or not.

I emailed it to you long enough BEFORE you posted that request, that if you don't have it I must have the wrong email address for you. The email address in my profile here works, so you could email me your correct email address.

Hmmmm - I certainly don't understand the code myself. I cheated - I used Touch Screen Setup's developer mode to manually input the RC6 code, copied and pasted that hex (since TSS abbreviates the code) to RC3200 setup, copied and pasted the full hex code then from RC3200 setup to here. (Sounds much worse than it really was.)

Other utilities which can be used to convert RC5/RC6 to learned code:
Go to www.majority.nl and then to the 'Projects: Remote control' page.
Download 'GENERATERCX.ZIP' and/or 'PRONTO.ZIP'. Both have the ability to generate learned code
