Before I order a Pronto...... I'm having trouble with the remote that comes with the 30 ES receiver. I would like to confirm with someone else out there if mine is defective, or if it is a glitch with all of the remotes that come with the receiver. The remote will not configure so as to operate the cursor of different brand players such as DVD, Laser & VTRs. It will only configure the cursor control of Sony brand devices, even though the instruction manual indicates it will. If you have the Sony 30ES with the RM-LJ301 remote, could you let me know if you can control your DVD (non Sony) cursor with the remote.... Thanks, JIM

Jim
Give this a try, on your remote.
press the setup button scroll up or down to ir set, press enter.
scroll up or down to the device you want, press enter.
scroll up or down to the brand name of the device you want, press enter.
done.
You will need to use the remote from a lower end Sony unit to program your pronto. ( see the post on the es50), when the software hits I will upload all the ES remote commands.

George, Yeah,I have been having problems too with the two way remote on the 30es (see my posting under the 50ES thread). Funny thing is I can get it to work on the Pronto if I program a template button but NOT if I program an item on the device menu. Your commands from the low end remotes might help me out. BUT, seems like the Pronto should not behave differently depending on how it is programmed. Do you have any esperience with this type of problem. Aside from this monor issue, I LOVE the Pronto. Surf

Thanks George, After I get as far as you instructed I then want to use the cursor under the lid of the Sony remote to operate a non Sony DVD player. After choosing the DVD from function, you open the remote and the LCD screen should give a choice to use the cursor with either the DVD player or the receiver. I Don't get the DVD player as a choice. Can you use your Sony remote's cursor which is located under the flip lid to control the cursor of your non- Sony DVD, Laser or VCR??? Thanks for the response... JIM

Jim, I have the same remote with a STR-DE925 and it will also not control the dvd cursors on a Panasonic. I don't believe that it is defective, rather that it just will not do it for whatever reason. My best guess is it is Sony's way of saying "maybe you should have bought one of our DVD players, and VCR, and MD player, etc."

Craig, Thanks for the reply, although it isn't what I was wanting to hear. I sent mine off for repair yesterday and should get it back the first of next week. If they correct the problem, I will let you know.....JIM
