How and when will the current owners get the cables? What size file will the software be?
Does anyone know the exact timing of all this?

I don't want to spen alot of time programming macros if I will want to start over with the software.

Eric,
Regarding Macros - I have spent a fair amount of time programming macros knowing full well that it will be easier with the software. My reason for so doing was to provide "seed macros" from which to start when the software becomes available. In other words, programming a few macros now has allowed me to program, debug and rethink macro commands for different macro functions, and to do so in front of my home theater. In this way, I believe it will be very simple to replicate (and slightly edit) current macros.

For example, I have two macros for programming a VCR to record a certain channel at a certain time. With the software, I could simply replicate a sample macro and edit it to record a different channel and/or time.

Just my two cents worth.

Eric,
It is still no more clear than "January" as fas as software release.
As far as spending time doing macros now rather than later, remember, when you get ProntoEdit, you'll be able to upload all that you have in Pronto into ProntoEdit and manipulate there. Therefore, I wouldn't say that it's any wasted time now, just a tad more tedious perhaps.

I think the cables will be available through the web site (http://www.pronto.philips.com).

The current version of ProntoEdit fits on three floppies.

I may have missed the original thread on this matter.

How will a user obtain the ProntoEdit when it is available? As a registered user, will I be notified and how much will the software cost?

Thanks in advance!
