I found the following discreet on for a Panasonic PV-VS4820 VCR on www.prontoedit.com -- it works on my VCR!

I've found this code works for discrete power on for my Panasonic PV-8660 VCR.

Bill - Do you have the discrete code for power off as well?

Hmm, for those of you that find that code works -- this one doesn't?

0000 0070 0000 0032 0082 0041 0011 0010 0011 0030 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0030 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0030 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0030 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0011 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0030 0011 0aec

Daniel - I did not find that the code you posted works on my Panasonic PV-8660 VCR.

I have found out that the code above posted by Bill, while indeed turning the power on reliably, it will also reset all the timed programs also. This note is also posted at www.prontoedit.com also.

Thus if anyone has any bright ideas on these codes.... I've tried all that is posted on this site for models close to mine.

For a power off, I use the above power on, a delay and then a power toggle. Not elegant, but it works. The timer reset issue doesn't affect me, as I use another VCR for recording

Can I get an Amen! Yahoooo!!!!

The only TOAD (Panasonic PV-S4690) in my system has finally been vanquished!

One of the two codes above (not sure which one, I believe it's the second one that Daniel posted) is a DISCRETE ON code for my s-video deck. This code, coupled with the normal power toggle code, have given me discrete on and off functionality.

Discrete On : DISCRETE-ON

Discrete Off : DISCRETE-ON, delay 0.1, POWER-TOGGLE

I'm not familiar with the methods of extracting the device/code info from an IR code. Could someone who is pull that info from this IR code ? Maybe we could get more discretes and/or other codes out of these Panasonics ?

Paul - do you find that this code resets all of your programming on the VCR (deletes all programs you had scheduled to record)? See "nicks" posting above.

Also, did you know that there is an eject code as well which works for these VCR's?

try this:

0000 0071 0000 0032 0080 003f 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0010 0010 0010 0010 0030 0010 0ab8

Jeff,

You know, I was so damned pumped last night when I saw this code work that it completely slipped my mind about what Nick had posted. I remembered this little detail this morning, after I had gotten to work.

Let me go home tonight, double check my VCR's program info, and report the results.

The TOAD has struck back. 8^(

Nick's post is correct. The VCR has been put through some sort of "Reset". *ALL* of the programmed information (including the learned channel numbers) have evaporated. No more programs, no more channels, no more time of day.... Nothing.

I used Bill's discrete code for my Panasonic PV-VS4820 and had terrific results!!! My VCR works perfectly with this code, with no resetting of any functions after 7 days of extensive testing. I have used the timer function over 25 times and turned the unit on and off hundreds of times with no loss of programmed timer events or resetting of the clock on the VCR. Thanks Bill!!

P.S. As this is a power on only, I used a macro of this discrete with a toggle power (off of the remote) to have a discrete power off as well.
