Forgive me if these questions have been addressed, I could not seem to find the answers.

1. Is there any way to control RF devices w/ this remote? Maybe a box like that cool networked IR device?

2. Does this require a windows box to control a HTPC? I use MythTV w/ Linux and would love to be able to use the WiFi controls somehow to do stuff to it.

3. If a Nevo falls in the woods, and no one is around - does it turn on a tv?

4. Are there any cool home automation accessories that are designed to take best advantage of this remote, or vice versa?

Thanks!!!

Hi

1) Do you search for this? [Link: smarthome.com]

2) You mean Media Streaming?

3) I do not understand this question

4) Everything which is using an IR remote control, because Nevo can learn them all. E.g. light switches. You just need to create your own UI.

1. You need to do it via wifi to connect to the unit from nevo called something like nevolink. Need a wap of sorts and some sort of network connection to get it to work. Oterwise the remote is IR only.

2. Nevo works with its own streaming program and windows Media center. No support of Mac or Myth. No built in browser so you can not reach the HTML myth interface either. You could control it via the IR only but the upnp functions of nevo don't play with Myth.

3. Is there a TV nearby? Or is there a WAP that is picking up the command?

4. Whatever...

I would like to thank both of you for your responses.

frohlich 1. Unfortunatly this does not do what I need. It turns RF into IR... I am looking for something that allows me to use an IR remote to control an RF device

Springs 1. Unfortunatly neither does this. The NevoLink only outputs IR and recieves Ethernet. This would be perfect if it did IR and RF. I have an AngelTrax CATV2400 that I am trying to control, and it only takes IR.

frohlich 2. Yes

Springs 2. Drat and double drat... I guess that would just be too cool...

frohlich 3. Don't worry, neither do I...

Springs 3. Yes on both, but the TV does not support discrete states and may or may not be plugged into a maple tree, and the WAP is broadcasting 802.16 WiMax...

frolich 4. Cool, but what if the light switches I select use RF? Then I would need something like in 1.

Springs 4. Blah... :-p

So on a side note... It seems I have most of my answers... The one that remains is, is there a way to make an IR remote control RF devices? Can anyone help w/ this?

Thanks again frolich, and Springs!

Zephirus,
If the device you are trying to control only responds to rf, you cannot control it with a learning remote. Nevo, pronto, harmony, or any of the others, they cannot do it.. The RF sections of learning remotes are designed to speak specifically to their own base unit and are not capable of being "taught" other rf protocol and frequencies. The dedicated RF receiving section of your device (fans, fireplaces, etc) will usually not react to IR so there is normally no way to control these RF only devices except with the supplied remote that is matched to them. Some of these RF equipped items (such as Bose Lifestyle systems) have a provision to receive ir but most do not. Sorry, but this is a problem that pops up continually in the remote world and at this time cannot be solved.
