Yay! But what exactly does it mean that it's ready for evaluation but not jobs? Should we not upgrade out current installations? I guess I don't understand how you "evaluate" it without actually using it for real configurations.

Unfortunately, I can already confirm that it has the same installation issues on 64-bit VISTA machines as the previous version. I.e., it won't install. :(

This has been a pain for me, as it limits my NSP use to an inconveniently-located desktop computer. I sure wish I could get it running on my laptop.

They are recommending that you don't use NSP 2.0 for customer installations yet because there is no way to revert back to NSP 1.0 functionality if something goes wrong with NSP 2.0.

What they are recommending for us - is that we can program our own configurations and demo product in our design studio's or our home offices so that we can evaluate the performance and finalize any bugs that may exist.

That makes sense. Do you suppose there is any chance they will attempt to fix whatever 64-bit Vista issue they have?

I honestly suspect that they designed the installation program to simply detect the OP and boot you out (the message comes very early in the install process), just to avoid potential issues or having to support them. But it would probably be fine. NSP is the only program that has ever refused to install on my laptop.

that sucks,
maybe you could by a cheep $350 netbook with win xp on it for programming on the go . ..

just an idea.

i know that on my mac,
i can program anything under the sun using fusion ,
but nevo i can not , i have to use dual boot (boot camp)
and boot right in to xp to program them . .

and i dont see them caring about fixing the issue.
im sure vista 64 is before mac support on the list,
and it will eventually get there,
but if its not in this candidate release,
then i dont expect it to be in the final release .. .

maybe 2.1 in the future ?

I've been using Vista on all my computers for almost two years, so I'd hate to go back to XP. I could always replace my laptop's OP with 32-bit Vista, but that's a pain and part of me refuses on principle alone. :| As I said, everything else runs just fine on it.

I'll just continue my PITA workaround, doing my programming from my desktop. I agree that Nevo isn't likely to care about this, or your Mac, for that matter. We'll just have to live with it....

I'll look into that suggestion. As I said, though, I have a feeling that the NSP installer just does a survey and boots you out if 64-bit is there. I do try to run it in XP-compatibility mode, which kind of works the same way (i.e., fools the program into thinking it's running under XP), but we'll see.

Thanks for your suggestions. As a Mac owner, I sense you understand my frustration with Nevo on this matter.
