I've just purchased a Linksys WRT610N dual bank wireless router. It's wireless N, but also backwards compatible with B and G. However, the issue is that my Nevo SL seems unable to see it, even when all encryption and MAC filtering is switched off and SSID is being broadcast.

I was able to switch my laptop to wireless B only and this still worked, so am really out of ideas. Has anyone used the remote with this router, or experienced similar problems? I found a similar thread earlier that stated that Linksys routers are normally particularly good with this backwards compatibility.

Any help appreciated! All my audio and video equipment is in a different room to my TV, so changing channels, etc is currently quite a task!

Did you set the router to Mixed Wireless B?
Do you have another router you could possibly try for toubleshooting purposes?
I used to have an SL and it worked well with a basic DLink router.

Thank you for the response. Yes, the router is set to "mixed", meaning that it should allow any B, G or N device to connect. I still have my Netgear DG834G v1 router (currently unplugged), which it was previously connected to for years.

Please note, that the problem is not simply that it cannot connect, but that it also doesn't even list the SSID as an available network when the SSID is being broadcast.

Hi,

Dissable anything to do with the "N" network.

This includes the wifi setting "wide band"

I have now tried setting the router to "B only" (have not tried B-G mixed), but it still doesn't work. Whilst in B only mode on the router, I have also tried setting both the remote and router to channel 1 and then channel 11, which didn't make any difference either. Have not tried other channels.

The tests in B mode automatically had wide band disabled. All tests were with SSID broadcast enabled and MAC filtering disabled.

There are a few settings on the Nevo that I'm not familiar with:

1. Tx Preamble Mode (currently set at default "Short Tx Preamble")
2. AP Roaming (currently set at default "Low Density Deployment")
3. EAP Type (currently set at default "TLS")

The 3 defaults above are what also worked successfully with my Netgear router in the past. I've also noticed that "Enable network access with 802.1x" is automatically selected (and cannot be de-selected) when encryption is on for the Nevo, which appears to be different to my laptops (which have this deactivated when encryption is on).

Except for the test with all encryption disabled, my Nevo is set to use "WPA-PSK TKIP" and the router to "WPA-TKIP or WPA2-AES". I do have some other devices successfully connected with WPA-PSK TKIP.

Still really stuck!

Well I Have just installed WAG160n however did not use the Software or Ella from Linksys for the set up (has mentioned in certain forums not to do) and everything works fine.

if i start linksys software it doesn't see the Nevo I can see the laptop , PC and PS3

Maybe if if you reset to factory and set up through IE with maximum defaults.

The advanced wireless settings on the router are already set to the defaults and I don't know enough about them to be confident changing them without more guidance. The basic settings are just the SSID, encryption, etc which is what the LELA software appears to set.

Hey Dave....sounds like a real headache. Those settings you mentioned above are just some of the more advanced parameters for wireless networks. If your laptop is connecting okay, I'd suggest you go into its wireless adapter settings and use the same settings it uses, in your Nevo. (If you don't know how to access those settings in your laptop, tell us your operating system and we can help you find them.)

Wanted to post an update to this thread. I'm still experiencing the same issue, which is a real pain. The only partial solution I've found is to use the Nevo Emulator software on my PC, which then successfully connects to the NevoLink (so this bit clearly works, but it's connected via my wireless bridge). Of course this requires me to be using my PC, which is a lot bigger than holding a remote, and not what I bought my Nevo for!

I've had a case open with Linksys for about as long as this thread, but so far they haven't been able to do anything (although they have advised that it has been escalated internally). I've also managed to contact Nevo support, who have just advised that this is a known issue with the Linksys WRT610N and WRT310N, although they advised that it does work with the WRT300N and WRT350N. If this is true, I'd ideally like a firmware upgrade to be provided for the WRT610N that fixes the issue, but not sure how long that could take.

Has anyone used the Nevo SL with any of these routers?

I'm running WRT610N with S70, no problems at all. Even using mac filtering, works great.

2.4ghz settings
B/G Mixed
standard channel - Auto
SSID broadcast - Disabled

Thank you for the info. You're going to start tempting me to get a S70!!! However, not really aware of any real advantages of an upgrade and don't think I want to pay the cost ... would certainly be much cheaper to get a new router!
