Hello,

I'm considering a Nevo s70 purchase. I currently use a Harmony 890 which is basically ok except for one thing: I have an Olive Opus music server and I want to be able to browse and select music from my library directly from my universal remote. The 890 doesn't have a touch screen and doesn't have wifi capabilities.

Currently I access the music server via a Nokia N800. I can do it either by: (1) typing the music server's ip into the browser which will bring up Olive's proprietary remote interface; or (2) opening a VNC client on my N800, typing in the music server's ip and then working directly from the menus that are on the music server.

Option 2 is better because the VNC client operates faster. Apparently the Olive remote interface is programmed a bit inefficiently and therefore uses a lot of CPU which the N800 doesn't have.

So three questions:

(1) can the NevoS70 connet via a web browser to an ip address to pull up the remote interface?

(2) can a VNC client be loaded into it so that I could access the music server that way?

(3) I have heard some complaints about the stability of the Nevo wireless connections. Do you guys feel pretty confident that they have ironed out these problems in the s70?

Many thanks for any responses.

Hey jack D,

1) Yes the S70 has a built in web browser which will enable you to pull up an IP address or website on the touchscreen.

2) The S70 doesn't support an VNC Client - it does support UPnP however.

3) The wifi on the new S70 is been very stable - I've been using mine for 4 months with no problems accessing various websites.

Thanks for the response. Do you know, is it possible to rotate the browser image? The remote interface on the Olive is wider than it is long so it would be nice to be able to display it filling out the screen. Similarly can the browser view be magnified?

The browser image can not be rotated or magnified unfortunately. It is formated for Mobile Devices ie. Blackberry and Windows Mobile Phones.

Bummer. That could be a problem with the web interface on my music server. I would hate to spend that amount of money and not be satisfied. Do you know is there a no questions asked refund period? thanks.

Hi,

Have you tried looking the music server on a PDA?

Some music servers web pages will auto re-size to the browser.

No I haven't tried the Olive screen on a PDA. Yes I assume that the remote interface will resize and that is part of the problem. I have a feeling it will have to be too small to fit the small dimension of the Nevo screen.

A refund would be up to the individual dealer you being making the purchase with.
I'd check with you local states officials to see what refund policies are in your state.

I know in Canada - some provinces have an all sales final policy unless the individual store advertises differently.
