how great would it be if you could set up "sleep" macros

that said - send off commands to all devices in 60 minutes from now
then goto the home screen

or set a macro that set up the entire system to turn on at 8am to the news?

built in sleep functions on most devices suck,
and other devices dont have sleep functions . .

if everything is being controlled via RF then why not...

Some of the gear to do what you want can be found here. Depending on the complexity, a stand-alone processor should be set up to handle this...

way easier to build it in to the remote . . its just software/firmware updates . .

shouldnt need extra hardware to do this . .
and thats just over complicating it . .

i already have a workaround but its just
way more intensive programming and slightly confusing
for the end user . .

I agree. That would be great. I was able to do it with my old Pronto 2000. It was great for recording Kid's TV shows to DVD. Kid's TV shows don't have commercials in the middled so I created a macro that would get the TV show playing from the DVR, wait until the show started and then record for 24 minutes. That way I just got the TV show and I was able to put 5 shows on a 120 min. DVD instead of just 4. I was able to get fairly good battery life if I waited for the Pronto's backlight to go off first, then press the button so the macro would run without the backlight on.

I think you can do it with the Nevo by going into the setup and disabling the power off setting. I think the default is 15 minutes. But, I don't think the backlight will ever turn off while the macro is running.

what you are refering to would lock out all controls of the remote while the macro was running . .

what i am talking about is preset macros that are time activated,
meaning if i choose a macro that i created called SLEEP 60 . .
the macro would wait 60 minutes before it actually ran at all. .
and the macro would then shut everything off . .

or i could choose another premade macro called
WAKE 8:45AM

and then 10 hours later , at 8:45AM the macro would run,
and turn on the entire system for me to a certain channel that i prefer . .

all this time between the initial SLEEP 60 press,
and the actual SLEEP 60 macro being sent,
i still want control over the remote . .
meaning i still want to be able to change channels and volume etc
during those 60 minutes . .

I agree with Motech - I've asked Nevo for this feature a couple times.
Great application is for showhomes - so the system turns on when the showhome opens and properly shuts down at night when the salesperson closes at night.
