Hello everyone,

I have read the posts here for a while and searched the NET for help but I am clearly too far behind the 'curve' in understanding how to use my NEVO. I had an older one which broke and my dealer kindly upgraded to an S70 free!! I am happy with it and have transferred my old screens across using the software. The thing I cannot understand is the streaming / media zone thing. I read the other newbie post on this page but I still do not understnad.

I have a Yamaha RXV2700RDS and great speakers but I simply do not understand how to stream music (at presnet I load to an IPOD and plug it in to a dock but it is very slow and unweildy!) I have been told to get AppleTV? CAn I use the NEVO to get my windows media files across (all MP3's) to my living room sound system and if so what do I need to buy and will album covers etc appear on the TV screen?

Sorry for the really basic question - more may follow!!

Thanks

First of all, welcome to the forum!

Your dealer upgraded for free?? The S70 is a $1200 remote, if I'm not mistaken. That's some serious customer service!

You would probably find more of the info you need over at the AVS forum. There is a dedicated digital media section where you can read about various solutions available and help you figure out which way you want to go.

I think you're at a more basic level, i.e., learning the basics of digital music and figuring out what equipment you want to use, than trying to figure out how to program it into your Nevo remote. Spend a little time over there- read about Sonos, Slim Devices, Apple products, etc.- and you'll be up to speed in no time.

Thanks for the welcome - I am afraid I am just too stupid for this whole process! I went to that website and could not understand a thing! I vaguely think I need a piece of kit to get the music from the NEVO SL to my amp so I can listen to tunes - is that correct? If so I suppose I wont bother after all I can just plug my IPOD into its dock and control it using the NEVO. I wanted album art and tracks on screen but I am told I need Apple TV which the NEVO can't control! This so frustrating I just can't get my head round what the pruspose of the media server aspect of the NEVO is. Any further guides for such an idiot as myself?

Cheers

Hey seahorse;

The Nevo can absolutely control the Apple TV. I have many of the same combination installed and functional. If you want to view the media stored in iTunes, be it music, podcasts, movies, etc. on your TV, Apple TV is the way to go. It's solid, and it works. Let me know if you need help programming that remote. I can knock it out quickly for you.

get the apple tv,
and just add it as a device on the remote.

you wont see album art or whats playing on your remote,
but you will see it on your big screen tv.

between itunes and the apple tv,
you will have all your music on your tv,
and movies, tv shows, music videos, and photos.

the S70 will just be acting as a universal remote .
