Any Experience with NevoLink? We installed our first NevoLink for the SL and found that we needed a WiFi router to make the link work to control HT devices behind closed doors. I think that this is absurd!!! especially in our case where the LinkSys Router is upstairs and it is taking quite some time with travel time and the slow firing Macros to complete the commands.

Please help if there are any suggestions or corrections to our assumptions.

Lets 1st the nevo network thing is good beleive itor not .

to fix this issue you should have a hard wire from your router to your AV equipment location usually you would for XBO, replaytv, Etc...)

then you will install a linksys wireless router accesspoint $59.00(cheaper than awireless bridge especially when you only need the SL to access the network) at the A/V location to extend your wireless access

1. turn off DHCP in the new router and set the ssid to be the same as your main router(hence extending the existing wireless network and not lossing connection through the house as your device moves through the house) and setup this ssid in you nevosl as the only "preffered"
2. plug your cat5 into one of the 1-4 ports not the wan this is now being used as wireless/wired switch only.
3. plugin nevolink to 1 of the 1-4 ports
4. plug you laptop directly into the new router "hardwired" to ensure discovery of the nevolink
5. rename that nevolink to something like "nvlk-bdrm" etc...

at this point you should be doing good.

the advantages of this remote is the ability to have for instance you equipment for all your rooms at a central localation and only having to extend your wireless network

FYI if it is being used for a tv (use IR for it) because unfortunatelly UEI used a resin coating instead of regular shielded wire like universal remote does. so you can not just twist them together they need to soldered and you have to make sure that it burns the resin coating off of the wire then elec tape or heat shrink should do it to finish

to much???

anyway,

good luck

oh yeah the lag on the firing macros doesn't matter where the wifi access point is. it could be right in front of you and it will still lag anyway we are still using MX3000 as well depending on the senorio.
