I know we are aware of the lesser quality screen on the Q50 as this has been brought up in past threads, but I am wondering why.

While I love my Q50, and would not want to replace it with anything currently avaialble, I am really curious as to why UEI made the decision to lessen the screen quality compared to past offerings as well as their competitors offerings.

The only logical explanation I can think of is to perhaps sell more S70's.

Form and function are more important than eye candy, but I'm sure some of us would enjoy getting creative with the Q50 graphics. But since we are limited by the display's capabilities, what's the point?

I realize only a UEI employee can give the correct answer, but I am curious just the same, and I enjoy reading new stuff in our slow community here ;')

I'm sure cost was also a factor. UEI is after all tring to compete with URC for marketshare. The Q50 price point hits about where the new MX980 hits. Obviously there are some advantages to both, but I'm sure the price point was a thought. The Q70 will compete head to head with the MX-3000, and some of the other color touchscreen remotes.
I long for a better world. One in which a chickens motives will not be questioned when mearly crossing the road.

I agree that the screen is not up to par with what I've seen on some other remotes, but none of my clients have ever brought that up. I guess it's because I have found that using certain themes and images look much better on the screen than others.

For instance, the football theme looks fantastic; everything looks solid and detailed on the screen (not to mention a lot of my clients love it). The golf theme looks great as well.

I have noticed that using vivid images seems to work better than darker ones.

I guess I would suggest downloading different themes onto the remote and see which ones appear better on the Q50's screen versus others.
