Hello.

Can the Nevo SL do WPA security or just WEP?

So far, I am extremely disappointed with this remote.

802.11b instead of 802.11G standard when the remote came out in 2005?

Are the guys who made this remote living in the stone age? I am going to have to downgrade my wireless access point to support this thing. They are currently set to 802.11g like most normal devices use.

PLEASE tell me that this remote has at least WPA security and does not only use WEP ?

Please let me know

thanks.

It does not need anything more than a "b" network. The S70 will be a "g" network as it has a lot more features.

Well, nope! 802.11g wireless routers work just fine with the b clients, otherwise they would all be out of biz! FYI, b clients still make more than 50% of devices out there!

802.11b has a theoretical speed of 11mbs vs 54mbs for 802.11g. We all know that in reality, b is only around 2-6mbs depending upon conditions but 802.11b should be more than adequate for any remote including the SL and Q70. A vast majority of home internet connections (yes I know some are FIOS and have 22+) but for example the US/UK average is below the b rating.

For average surfing and streaming (non HD), b should suffice. For data transfers (e.g. gb files, 54mbs and upwards are better).

In this day and and age you should set your router to BOTH. There are still plenty of devices that are B only. I see no reason why B is a "stone age" concept and setting for a remote control.
