Does anyone have experience with the Q50/Connect RS232? I need to control a Russound CAA66 and Marantz ST7001.

I have not done one yet. I am anxious to give it a try. The device add function offers to add a serial device. Then a nice looking menu comes up with settings for all of the basics, baud, #bits, #stop bits, etc. Looks very clean.

Then next screen is the ability to import rs-232 codes from a spreadsheet or other text output, which seems like a great function and could be a great time saver. Import is either in ASCII or Hex.

I am very happy with the NevoConnect so far, just haven't tried RS-232 yet. Other great thing with the NevoConnect is any of the 6 plugs in the back can be used for addressable IR, serial, video sync or voltage sensing. Just use a different cable device. UEI has 4 different cable devices for each of these functions.

What exactly do you need to know?

Once you source the 232 codes just punch them into studio.

The only bits of advice I can give are:

Test the codes with hyperterminal first (hex only, ascii wont work, you can D/L free software from the net)

Once you have the correct cable (straight or cross) and you can control the device from your PC then th rest should be easy.

The reason for testing on the PC first is that it is easier to fault find.

Make sure that you click Hex or Ascii in studio before you start entering code.

Hope this helps.
