I recently replaced my NevoSL. When the new unit arrived, I simply charged it up and downloaded my existing project to the replacement NevoSL. Everything seems to be working well except that I've noticed the responsiveness of the hard and soft buttons is far slower than the old unit that was being replaced.

Does anyone have a clue why this would be the case? It shouldn't be delay settings since it is the identical project that was used in the previous NevoSL. I would expect the same responsiveness when downloaded to any NevoSL.

I'm just wondering if there have been any reported issues with the internal circuitry.

Thx . . . . .

I've never noticed such a phenomenon before... interesting (puf puf – Sherlock Holmes)... What I have seen before is slow browsing of pages when you first download a project to Nevo, but as soon as you go through them once, everything is much smoother… Maybe you can attach your project (upload to the files area?)

I've sent in a request to upload the nvo. Even without the same devices I have set up, you will see by selecting any touch screen button that there is a lag of a couple of seconds before you see the graphic shows it being depressed. Even using the wheel, changing from page to page has a similar lag. So it is affecting both soft and hard buttons.

I overwrote an existing nvo file that was already on the NevoSL when I received it - not the original default nvo file. I wonder if I should set it back first to the default .nvo file, then upload my nvo file.

I'm curious if this is processor related, or if it uses file storage and needs some kind of defrag, or if it is some other kind of glitch.

More suggestions would be appreciated. I'll post again when the file has been uploaded.

Does this happen on every button press or is it the first time after the SL has been left for a while? On mine, the first time I press either a hard or soft button, there is no respone then the second time it is OK, as though the system hasn't woken up.

No, its every time (both hard and soft buttons). I know what you are referring to. Often I have to wake up my SL with the push of the first button (hard), then select the function.

My last SL, the one I am replacing, often would not respond to certain buttons until I toggled pages. I got used to that. But there is a long pause between selecting a hard/soft button and the action. I would estimate just under 2 seconds. Even touching a soft button, if you watch the graphic, doesn't respond to showing the same graphic changing to depressed for a slight delay.

I'm just curious what part of the insides is causing the latency issue. Is it the board, a software/OS issue, or some other component.

Have you tried a low level format?

Then re-download your job file.

I have resolved the problem. And yes, a low level format was one of the steps I went through to correct the problem. I believe the actual problem was a driver incompatibility issue.

The replacement SL already had another nvo file on it when I received it. I replaced it with my nvo file. However, in the past year, I had never upgraded NevoStudio or the device itself. Once I got the latest driver installed (after installing NevoStudio 2), the device become responsive. I proceeded to update the firmware to bring both the device and the software up to date.

Now my NevoSL works beautifully, maybe even better than before.

After going through the upgrade process, I'm pretty convinced there was some driver version incompatibility.

I hope this is helpful to others who may encounter the same thing.

Ha! Very ancient versions.

I went from:

ROM v 1.0.1.09
Nevo Studio v 1.1.0.437

to:

ROM v 2.0.1.19
Nevo Studio v 2.0.2.597

With my original device, everything was running stable. So I had no reason to upgrade.

If the replacement device came without ever being touched, I probably wouldn't of had the problem I experienced. I suspect that the replacement device had a more recent version of something (ROM, OS, etc.) that didn't play friendly with the nvo file I created using a much older version of Nevo Studio.

I noticed the improvement the moment the driver installed successfully (during calibration) and before I had upgraded the device.

Now I kind of want to see what more I can do with the most recent version of Nevo Studio.
