please help me.

3 weeks ago, i've received my new black NEVO SL.

It's great !!!

But there's one bad point:

If i twisting the NEVO a little bit the NEVO is creaking.

I don't like that noise :-)

Does anyone can tellme how to open the nevo ?

I want to try to fix this creaking problem.

easy fix... dont twist it.

Where did you bought it? Don't you have warranty?

i have the original nevo and i also have a creaking noise when you press on a certain part of the outside casing in a certain way. it bothered me at first as when you spend the $ you expect perfection, but it just wasnt worth sending it in for warranty and going wthout my nevo for who knows how long! so i just dont press on that part of the casing(its and area i would never press naturally-much like twisting it)... easy fix! lol

It seems that the black case is not as tight. I just picked up a black nevo and it is loose and noisey compared to my silver nevo. I think the rubberized bottom used on the silver makes for a tighter fit.

NevoSL is dead easy to open:

1. Prise out the lower two rubber feet and you will see small pozidrive screws - remove these.
2. At the bottom, pull apart gently, and it folds upwards on some tags.

Be very careful when pulling it apart as there is a tag at the bottom that could break.

I did this to see if I could replace the battery with a higher mAh to enable wireless to work more than two hours, I'm waiting for a couple of replies from suppliers.

The existing battery is a Samsung SDI Lithium Ion and is replaceable (keeping the existing charging controller on the battery)

For Info, there is acres of room inside - the remote could be a lot thinner !

The battery I'm hopefully going to replace it with is a 3200mAh one - approx 3 times the capacity of the existing one, this should give about 6 hours of wireless use.

It is about 10mm longer, 2mm thicker and 5mm wider and does weigh 50g more though, don't see this a problem.

yup, and a smoker. i can see little ashes in there and it drives me bananas! i'm always trying to folder paper towel over thin cardboard to get in the button crease but its impossible on corners!

More details Please!! You mention a charge controller, is this a part of the battery or are you referring to the Nevo charge system? I think we should all warn ourselves to kiss our warrenties good bye once we open these up.

There is a small (5mm x 50mm) PCB attached to the battery terminals with a few SMT component on it and out of that comes 4 wires which pulg into the Nevo SL main PCB.

I'm hoping that it will be a case of removing the controller from the battery terminals (just "folded" on) and attaching to a larger capacity one.

So before i needlessly take open up the unit and likely wreck something in the process, will i even be able to access the backside of the buttons and whatever surface i can see underneath them from the frontside?

I did't progress any further than taking the back cover off and the battery out.
If I remember correctly, the main PCB and display are screwed to the front panel, shouldn't be too tricky !

i suspected that may be the case. i know electronics never look like i expect they will when i open them up. my saw and hammer never prove to be as useful as i expected when starting the job.....

I didn't take a real good look at how it was put together but, I did take a good enough of a look to see that even the most minor slip with a small screwdriver would turn it into a few ounces of worthless trash.

I might try using compressed air aimed around and under the board to blow out dust and ashes.
