All music is mp3. All files are sorted into folders, artist sub folder album. Pretty standard. All mp3 have ID3 tags and have all information, such as artist, title, track, genres. I usually look up things by artist and album--pretty simple and this works fine as does album search. However, genres lookup does not work. When I click on the Nevo SL for genre's I just get one icon "unknown" instead of a nice list of all genres in my collection. I do not want to resort the albums into genres and then artist, because most of the time I go straight to the artist and there are some artists that genre is ambigious or they crossover (jazz to blues etc). Is there a good way to create the genre list? Or perhaps I've done something wrong that causes it not to work.

I am wondering if the Nevo SL can work with ID3 tags? Possibly an earlier version of the tag? Just guessing.

I recall simply making my mp3 files available to MS Media Player and it took care of the artwork automatically, next time I looked at the media via the Nevo. In addition, all of the genres were there.

I did the same thing. I used both win media player 10 and the new 11 beta. The 11 beta worked better. I got about 1 out of 20 artworks. Now I know I listen to some obscure music, but 1 out of 20? Some of the most common albums had no artwork. I also got the genre, but not all of them. Jazz, New Age, Pop, Blues showed up, but no Rock. A lot are "unknown". That seems really odd. I also discovered that the genre categories are not always right--and they are (or were) in my database. For example, when was Ahmda Jamal "Pop"? I don't think any database would have that classification for him. So, perhaps there are just some software glitches that are still being worked out--and I need to double check the beta version and see if it did something strange.

Okay, I've gotten much closer. Another pass at Win Media beta 11 with the support options for the images checked and not only did a get a lot more cover art to the nevo I also got the genres is much better shape. I do not understand the latter, but it's far better than where I was previously.

More progress and I'm just putting this on so that others can hopefully gain from what little I've learned. First, Win Media Player 11 beta version 2 is really excellent. It puts the small album covers in jpeg format in the folder which is a big help for the Nevo. Second is that I have almost 6000 songs. Once I got everything right on the server you have to refresh everything on the Nevo--and with that many songs that takes a long time. For this process changing the set up to never turn off the nevo and never turn off wifi is a good idea. I kept having it interupted and getting incomplete data and classifications etc. This is one of the big tips I needed--and just didn't find it elsewhere.

Rives,
I downloaded WMP 11 yesterday and pulled in the mp3 files. On the first pass, I am missing most of the album art (similar to your 1 out of 20). You indicate you got better results with "support options for the images checked." Where do you find this option in WMP 11?
