I have been lurking for several weeks and have been doing research on remotes for both IR and wireless capabilities. I was wondering since this is the professional installers lounge what is the difference between running this on an embedded ipaq and the actual SL remote.

I don't have an SL but I do have several IPAQs that are supported. So I was wondering why I would invest $600-$1000 on the SL version. I would assume that it is memory constrained like most remotes I have dealt with :)

I understand it has hard buttons but not so sure that is a must.

I just don't get paying the additional $$$ for the remote when supposedly an IPAQ and the Nero Studio software does the same thing?

Any wisdom you can lay on the newbie would be welcomed :)

Hi, I would love to hear what you learned on this topic. I am asking myself the same questions. What dont I get with a used ipaq with nevo installed that I would need?

I do want to be able to control the whole house, could I do that with an RF extender? Do I get/can I use nevolink, nevostudio and nevomedia with the ipaq version, or are those restricted to the SL?

Thanks!

Hard buttons are the big difference, plus the obvious design differences, physically.

The Nevo SL fits in the hand very nicely and has a very nice ergonomic design.

A PDA can give you the screen attributes but never the hard buttons nor the ergonomics.

I am not certain if the imbedded version has all of the wifi goodies.

You may want to see what those in the pda forum here, have to say.
