Please let me know what kind of devices you are using in your setup and whether you’ve been happy with the quality(your region would help as well)

Thanks for your help

All southern California. Set to "channel 2"

Linksys WRT54G old set ups. Not Used On New Systems.
7 weeks max use without loosing the Nevo Link.

Linksys WAP54G Access Point. Works like a champ.
Work best if all channels are set the same in a multi unit setup.

Linksys WRV54G VPN
4-5 days MAX without loosing the Nevo Link.
Future updates will give better stability.

icutfc,

You say future updates will give better stability. Do you mean, updates of the Nevo and where do you get this info.

Only with the "Preamble" setting. This is what allowed this project to go from 2 weeks to 7 weeks.

You seem irritated Marc. Are saying I'm lying?

I'm a dealer, and all I can say about the matter is that the NEVO SL won't play nice with VPN's or VoIP. And If the NEVO SL update will do a fraction of what they (UE) say, we will all be happy campers.

I’ve seen a great deal of difference in the performance and stability of different Access Points myself during my IT times and that is why I started this thread!

I have read the whitepaper and am pretty confident in setting up a network. But some Access Points don’t allow the configuration of some parameters and I don’t really trust they are doing a good job of automatically adjusting the parameters for me! Seems a bit flakey!

My best experience so far has been with WRT54GX and GX2 with >3months of usage with no problems!

No Problems? I call shenanigans! What do you consider a problem? I would love to have monts of continued opperation without losing a link. Please give a discription of this setup.(If you would like to share) My simple jobs with one remote work this way, ONLY if its a simple network. (SL, Link and Router that's it.) No computers, no internet,no switches, no VPN, no VoIP, and no second SL.
Please note: (((THE ONLY PROBLEM I HAVE IS A DROPED LINK)))

Here are my BASIC system notes:

Connected to network:

2 PC's
2 Laptops (WIRELESS)
2 ROKU HD1000
1 ELAN VIA! DJ
5 NEVO SL (WIRELESS)
5 NEVO LINKS (STATIC)
1 VPN ROUTER Linksys
3 ACCESS POINT (STATIC) Linksys
2 5 PORT SWITCH Linksys
1 24 PORT SWITCH Linksys

Wow! I have to admit my installations have not been as complex as yours. Mostly just one NevoSL and maybe 2 NevoLink and at the most two Access Points! But just going back to my IT times, this might help:

1.You said Main Router VPN: 192.168.1.100. Is this the DHCP IP range starting point? I would have to assume this is the case since you showed 192.168.1.1 as the login IP which would be the IP address of the router. And if you are using the default settings, the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0 for a 192 address range. The default DHCP client number for Linksys is usually 50, which means IP addresses starting at 192.168.1.100 to 149 should be set aside for DHCP assignment and should NOT be used as static values in network setup. Any other value outside of this range can be safely used as static.
2.Referring back to item#1, I have to assume there is a high probability of IP collision with static values used on NevoLinks: 192.168.1.130..134. This problem may occur from time to time and not always depending on the DHCP Sever behavior as well as networked devices joining, leaving the network or simply renewing their IP address.
3.Since you are using same SSID for all WAPs, I would have to assume this is a roaming network, therefore the rule of thumb in setting up such a network is using non-overlapping channels such as 1, 6, 11 and to make sure the coverage areas do not have much overlap. The indetermionistic area of such topoplogies is ~-75dBm for most 802.11 devices. With the current channel selections(all set to 2), they will work as a noise source rather than extending the network coverage.
4.Also you have to make sure that the subnet mask and gateway parameters of the NevoLink are set to static when assigning static IP addresses, and make sure these two parameters match that of the network. I remember hearing about this in my training and is also mentioned in their whitepaper.
5.Even in my simple installation, if I don’t adjust the advanced settings of the WAP as Nevo has recommended in their whitepaper, the connection would be unstable. Parameter such as CTS, ACK Mode, Frame Burst, 802.11e(QoS), … Have you looked at these parameters on all of your WAPs?
6.Last but not least, my worst headache was in an installation which they has a 2.4GHz phone which I did not know about and whenever they turned it on, the whole setup would go crazy!

Hope this helps… I haven’t really used anything other than the SRX series from Linksys in my installations and would be curious to know the outcome of your setup with the lower power 54G series.

Cheers

Oh, by the way... Are you using NevoSL version 1.2? Are they all 1.2?

Two more things the other dealers remineded me:

1.You can not have a mixture of different Nevo versions in a network. All should be 1.2.
2.There is also a 5second rule mentioned in the last chapter of the whitepaper which may explain some of the behavior you might be seeing.

Obviously this guy works for UEI and is trying to save face for such an unstable product and trying to blame other companies.

Nice try
