Has anybody managed to create a Key Group using the instructions on p.118 of the NevoStudio Pro Design Guide? My problem is that I can't find out how to save a configuration with the .nvt extension. Any suggestions would be welcome.

It took me a while to remember this because I remember asking the trainer about this a LONG time ago and even did it myself once, but I found it easier to just open up existing configs and copy Page Collections from one config to another.

Anyhow, I think creating a Key Group goes something like this:
-Right click a remote as it sits in the Job View panel
-Select "Export Nevo Configuration"
-The window that appears will show that you'll be saving an NVP file, but just click on the "Save as type" drop down menu and you'll see the NVT option.
-Save the file to the following location: C:\Program Files\Nevo\NevoStudio Pro\gallery\Templates\Key Groups\Q50

Hmm, now that I think about it, I'm not sure if this'll work. I think I have a better idea. How about you try to alter the default .NVT file that NevoStudio Pro uses?

I did a little bit of playing around right now and I figured it out, here is how you do this:
1. Open up a new config, but don't add any remotes or devices; just an empty job file
2. Go to File, Import Nevo Configuration
3. Find the .NVT file that you need to alter, if it's a Q50 Key Group that you want to create, go to the Q50 folder, if it's an S70 Key Group, go to that folder, but here is the Q50 location:
C:\Program Files\Nevo\NevoStudio Pro\gallery\Templates\Key Groups\Q50
4. When you get to that folder, make sure to set the "Files of type" drop down to the NVT file type so that you can see it.
5. It'll open up the file like a regular config; those are the Key Groups that you see in the Key Group tab! Cool.
6. Make any edits that you want (obviously I wouldn't delete anything from there but I guess you can take your chances if you want) including adding some additional pages of Key Groups that you'd like to add.
7. Here is where it gets a little funny: You see how there is a "Nevo" device in this config? I remember something about the trainer telling me that it's those commands that allow the Key Groups to be automatically programmed with commands. Meaning, if you want to create a Key Group with buttons for like Fast Forward, Rewind, etc., you should NOT populate them with any real commands from a normal device like a Sony DVD player, but rather with Fast Forward, Rewind, etc. of these "Nevo" commands. Now, I've noticed that not all Key Groups have commands in them, so you may even choose not to populate buttons with commands, but I would just make sure that the "Nevo" device is the only one left in this config. Maybe I'm over reacting, but since this part of the software is a little fuzzy to me, I'm just being on the safe side.
8. After you add some new pages for the Key Groups that you are adding, you can just right-click on the remote icon in the Job View panel and select "Export Nevo Configuration".
9. Then make sure that you save over the existing one in the same location I mentioned earlier. Oh yeah, I'd make sure to make backups of the old .NVT files if I were you, lol.

I believe that should do it. But like I said, I don't mind opening up older configs and just copying and pasting and then performing SuperFast Device Swaps on those new buttons, but that's just me. I guess if you use Key Groups enough, this might be pretty cool for you.

Let us know how this turns out for you because I don't know if this'll work 100%. :-)

Good luck.

Well, so far I've tried your first suggestion, and it works exactly as I wanted! At present my only requirement is to be able to replicate sets of buttons and it's now doing that perfectly.

Your second option, to modify the default .NVT, is one that I'll get back to later.

So, many thanks.
