While it's nothing more than a rough prototype at this point, there is an MX-3500 planned down the line. Pretty much the same look as the 3000 only witha glossy finish. There will be some improvements and additions, but nothing much to say at this time (other than you might note the "Two Way" designation). ;-)

Two way entertainment system...if it can play back video and let my customers check their secutiry cams, I'd be a very happy guy! Thank you, Damon DG = = = = = http://www.ProRemotes.com - Authorized Dealer & Remote Programming

Gee,
It took only 1 day for my MX3000 to become obsolete? They also didn't solve the DVR hard button issue.

It will be quite awhile before your MX-3000 is obsolete. The 2-way communication feature will be nice though.

View a camera on it? Well that would be something at that price point!

Oh man, *drool*, think of all the possibilites this will open up for the URC lineup. Assuming the Two-Way communication allows for more than just feedback, there would be no more size limitations. DMX-3500 could be MUCH better !!! :-)

Is that even possible? I mean the Crestrons and Amxs that provide video preview are up there in price. The RTI T4 will be able to do this and it costs $2500. [Link: rticorp.com]Maybe 2 way means serial info?

From my talks with the folks at the booth in CES it will be 2 way communication with the new MRF-500 (component sized piece) and that the MRF will communicate with any other component via RS-232. A simplistic approach for this was the ability to stream XM Sat info on to the remote. We shall just have to wait and see!

2 way for RS232 with the MRF500. This means ascii-type text only, but we're still early in development. Expect a very aggresive price point (certainly compared to what's out there) and possilbly a larger display screen.
I'll post more info as we get it.
And thanks, Mike, for the great photo's you've been posting. Thank god I wasn't around the booth when you stopped by (I must have been out smoking) or you'd be posting scary pics of me to go with the products...

Jeff Actually, you were there, but busy with someone else. I have a deal with Hank not to take pictures of any you guys. ;-) BTW, didn't we meet up around a pool table a few years ago when CEDIA was in Minneapolis? :-)

Apparently, simple graphics like album cover art from Escient, Replay, etc. will also be available on the MX-3500 screen, as long as the device is capable of sending this via it's RS-232 port. No streaming video, so no cameras.

G That was going to be my question. If streaming video WAS an option, it could be used as the user interface on an Escient or Request DA system. So streaming video is NOT gonna happen?

No, I wont install your plasma with an orange extension cord hanging down the wall. www.customdigitalinc.com |

Streaming seems unlikely on the first go 'round. I specifically asked about cover art a couple months ago and that is something that most of us would like to see - as long as it can be developed in a reasonable time, at a reasonable price and reliably. This is one of the reasons that most manufacturers don't go into too much detail on product that is more than 3 months away - we want the same stuff you guys do but we don't want to promise stuff that can't be delivered. I have heard rumors - which I repeated at CES - that we'll have some sort of album and artist ability for Escient type products, but I haven't heard any additional confirmation lately. Personally, my wish list would include camera and sat/cable menu ability, but I just train people, I don't build the stuff...

Mike,
were you one of the guys I beat at the pool table CEDIA party? I just remember lots of beer and winning alot. That must have been back in my Home Theater SPot days...things were so much simpler then...we'll have to mull it over at the next big show.
Jeff
PS, don't mention Minneapolis again - after living there most of last year (and leaving there for good a few weeks ago) I still have nightmares...
