Well based on how long the race was, the home stretch could be 3 or 4 months.

U N B E L I E V A B L E! I'd be willing to pay the full purchase price of $290 if they would put the extra $65 to hiring higher caliber software writers. So when it does come out will it be the 1999 model, the 2000 model, the 2001 model or the 200x model?

Hey, Mike, could you at least post a PDF of the manual in the mean time? That would give us a chance to figure out how we want to configure our MX-1000s...

How about filling us in on some more of the features? For instance, is the GUI customizable, a-la the Pronto? This is something I've been waiting to know since, oh, let's see--last December.

Yes, at least give us some in-depth information, or a lot of sales are going to be lost. There must be up-to-date screen shots of the unit and the LCD. The pics I've seen are many months old, when it was still prototype. And the feature set must be close by now, even if there is a bug in one of them!!! So, at least a PDF of the manual! Heck, I could make one in one day on my home PC!! Come on, Mike!!!

Mike Gifford - I ran across the following post from several months ago from you:

"The engineers could keep the remote control delayed forever if they continue to improve the software, but once it is released, you can download future upgrades from our website (UNIVERSAL-REMOTE.COM)into the remote control through the RS232 serial port which comes with the remote control."

If you can download software upgrades directly into the remote control via the RS232 serial port then it seems that you should be able to be shipping the units now, regardless of the bugs, and then we could be uploading bug free software to the remote ourselves therefore avoiding any more blood pressure raising delays. We will have to do this anyway if more bugs are discovered after you actually do ship the units. Could you comment on this please?
Thanks!

Guess what, I called universal remotes y'day and they said it is not going to be out until August. They did it again.

By the way, what was the original release date for the MX-1000? Their web site still says "Shipping 1st Quarter 2000!" when you enter the site and it's now the middle of the the 3rd Quarter!

Can someone tell me what the hell is going on??? What kind of company keeps there customers hanging like this? I've kept my mouth shut since December but I can't do it anymore. This is ridiculous. I agree with Brad, just put the damn thing out and let us upgrade the fixes as they become availible.

The website still says shipping early July. If your not sure when you're going to put the product out, stop creating a deadline that you can't meet. Stop teasing people. At least remove the "anticipated" ship date from the website.

Sorry but I just had to vent.

I first became interested in this remote before Christmas. If you can believe it, it was going to be my Christmas gift. I was in contact with Universal Remote and they assured me it would at least be done for my birthday (April). As that deadline passed I asked if it would be ready for my summer vacation (I teach) and they, of course, replied "yes." In an e-mail from Mike I was told for sure that it would be the second week of July at the latest. I've lived with my 7 or 8 remotes for a long time and I've been waiting for this one and this one only. The price and the features seemed to fit me perfectly.

I'm stunned at the incompetence. In an e-mail from Mike he acknowledged that the delays were frustrating to both the consumer and the manufacturer.

My reponse asked him to change those two designations. I feel like a "connedsumer" and Universal Remote is a "cantufacturer."

Just had to vent!

This is beginning to sound more like a hardware problem rather than a software defect. Software defects usually do not take several months to fix--barring a major architectural design flaw.

I, for one, will wait for a review when the product finally ships before purchasing.
