I'll tell you what I would like to see. How about an IR code to device model cross reference so that I can figure out which code set to use from the internal iProntoEdit library without having to test each one to see if it works! For example:

Panasonic PT-56WXF95 = Panasonic Codeset - 0189
Denon AVR-3300 = Denon Codeset - 0187

...and so on.

As it is, the only way to find the right codeset in the library is to edit, guess, download, test, repeat if it doesn't work over and over. Am I missing something?? Is there a cross reference anywhere online?

Thanks,

Dave.

I agree with you- it is an omission that needs to be fixed

worse- some of the code sets have programming errors:

eg Sony DSS- the code for enter actually produces the code for display- so you have to be sure to remove the preprogrammed code and learn the proper IR command (if you do not remove it first, next time you download it will overwrite the learned command)

I am also unable to use preprogrammed codes for the hard buttons- have to use learn function only

I have been able to get the Channel hard buttons with preprogrammed codes, no luck with the Volume buttons.

Even learning the codes is kind of tricky, espescially with channels. I have set up a few pages with direct access (one touch) buttons for various channels and networks (NBC, CBS, ABC, HBO, et cetera). Problem is that the preprogrammed codes that I used for the TV set up don't seem to work when used in multiples for these buttons. For example, single numbers are fine (3, 4, 5...) but double digits (10, 12, 15, 16...) don't work properly. Channel 10 in particular. Pre-programmed with the TV codes, I get double hits on the "1" and an occasional random zero. I've tried delays between numbers and nothing seems to o the trick. I finally settled on usink a "link" to my watch channel page for the "1" "0" sequence ut it still isn't right. It is now sending 11010, but I end up on channel 10. I was just tired of screwing around with it.

On a similar note, it also seems fairly impossible to get it to "learn" multiple numbers. Using channel 10 as an example again, when I push the button that I want to learn channel 10 on the iPronto and then try to send a "1" then "0", the iPronto is so anxious to learn that first digit, and acknowledge that is has been learned, that I never get to enter the "0". No matter how fast I key in 10, it insists on only learning the one and and displaying te "successful" dialog box. Pretty frustrating!

I also noticed a similar fault in the 'watch now' link from the EPG:

about 1/2 of the codes would work for a Sony HD200: the other half would miss a digit (the middle I think, so it may be timing)and I see no way to correct/adjust

Dave,

I'd suggest you retry learning that TV "1" button again. Keep it pressed long enough untill it says success. This made it much more reliable in my case.

That's just my point... I learns the HELL out of the "1", but how do you get it to learn the "0" after it learns the "1" and acknowledges that with the "success" dialog box? Basically the unit goes back into "idle" learning mode until you press another iPronto button to learn.

Well, you need to learn your individual digits (0-9) and after that you link them together as macros to create 10,11,12,13.

Pronto Programming 101. It's been covered ad naseum here, in the basic TSU-xxxx forum, and in the FAQ.

Pay attention this time, westmetro. I've been programming Prontos for 4 years.

Not only can you not key in the "1", "0" sequence, but the preprogammed codes for the "0" in the Panasonic set (0277) actually sends a "1", thus, the macro is not possible either.

Thank you for enlightening me with your Pronto 101 kowledge... NOT.
