This is not a question for the custom installers, or those involved in selling them. This is for the hard core crowd that started with the TS1000, and have continued to move up.

I'm not suggesting it can't be a success if the user-driven market isn't lighting up, but this site, and the fascination with personal customization was what got me involved, first with the TS1000, onwards to the ProntoPro, and now to the RC9200.

The upgrades made sense. Going from the TS1000 to a color unit was a dramatic difference. Once accustomed to color, attaining the design flexibility and extra hard buttons of the RC9200 was also something worth the upgrade.

But I have a laptop. And the lack of hard buttons, as well as a product which "promises" features later on have me very aloof, not my usual posture when it comes to such toys. The addiction I contracted in those first few sleepless weekends of learning the programming of the TS1000 is not flaring; I feel no urge for this product.

I like the idea of the internet capability, but it's got to add more as a remote, when its lack of hard buttons adds less, and its usable space is not really that much greater (especially when you consider the need to program joysticks onto the screen).

So, just vote, and let's see what that tells us about our enthusiasm for the product. I have not ordered one, and have no definite plans to buy one. That's a great deal different than I felt about the ProntoPro when it was released, and even the RC9200.

So I vote No.

I plan on getting one this year. I'm waiting for the "bugs" to get worked out. Also, Fred posted "There IS a 'Super Box' coming at the end of the year with RS-232 (and other) add-on functions." I'm curious about that and am wondering if I should wait for this. I wish there were more details posted.

Andrea, I would assume he is talking about the box that Daniel mentioned back in September.

Just received one tonight. I am very disappointed that it does not send RF codes and will probably return it (I have two ProntoPro's working RF and could not go back to IR only).

got one today- did the upgrade and got the EPG working- now on to the software

learned a few IR codes just to see how it works- IR output is very good

nice remote- worth a look-just the EPG by itself is great- and that is only a small part of what it can do

I thought about it. Then the TSU3000 came out and covered 95% of my issues. I don't need color or its battery drain. We always have one of our laptops in the same room as the TV, so that's used for surfing. We have a DirecTivo, so an EPG is redundant.

I like the screen real estate, but the 3000's ability to use the whole screen is adequate for my needs. I can't justify spending more than a decent laptop computer for a specialized-use device.

If you write a "reality check", you buy a Pronto TSU3000 or maybe even a 6000.

If you write an "unreality check", you purchase an iPronto.

Chuckle. Chuckle. duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh.

Anyway, I'd still like to have an iPronto......... it's just that I'm out of "unreality checks" at the moment. I have some on order though. Don't know when I'll get them however.
