That was sold for the after-market.
It was the mid 80's.

I've (still) got a Pioneer CU-AV 100 I picked up in 1988 for about $200...

THAT WAS A VERY GOOD REMOTE, I liked
the translucent keys. I used a very
similar one from my vsx-ds1 for ten
years. But thats not the first. It
was one of the first handful for
sure.

The first one I remember was the Memorex, model CP8 (if I remember correctly). I had one, and I set the video macro to function as both "on" and "off" macros by having the "power" command on both sides of each component selection. (or was that the component selected on both sides of each power command?) In any case, it worked.

I remember TARGET once had the cp8 on
clearence, $20 each. I bought three of
them. At the time I had fisher tv,
jcpenney digital vcr, and JVC receiver.
The cp8 couldn't learn a thing, they
went back. But cp8 wasn't the first
learning remote either.

No not yet, but we haven't heard from
the rest of the great minds around here

NO, not the Marantz either. But between
my last two posts I bought the oldest
learning remote on EBAY. I was searching the some 900 or more remotes
for sale they it was. Brand new in the
box, they called it NEW OLD STOCK. I had
one of this back in 85. I bought for
my father, it was for a Sylvania super
set tv. DO you remember the commercial
"Sylania beat SONY AGAIN".
