So I bought my wife a new clock radio/cd player for the bedroom:

Looks great, sounds great, easy to set alarm. Just what she wanted.

But it has to sit on my nightstand, so to hit snooze she has to a) find the itty bitty remote, b) find the snooze button on the itty bitty remote, and c) point it at the radio.

For some reason she's not happy doing this at 6am.

What I'd like to do is wire up a large button on her nightstand to an IR emitter near the radio, programmed to send the snooze code. Anyone have any suggestions on how to accomplish this or something similar?

I'd love to use my Griffin Powermate, but it's a USB device and dedicating a computer to this purpose seems kinda nutty.

I sure wish Griffin would make an inexpensive programmable IR emitter for the Powemate, it would be incredible to use it as the volume/mute control in my HT (which, being married, is no longer an HTPC).

Not afraid of a little programming or soldering, but I'd like to explore the IR route before opening up the radio and running a wire to its snooze button.

Any ideas greatly appreciated.
