Hi-
Please be so kind as to tell me the name of the device that can take an IR signal from one room to another area. I though was an "IR extender" but I am not sure! Please also be so kind as to tell me where I can get one cheapest!
TIA

Well you thought wrong. It's not called an "IR extender"

This wonderful devices was basicly invented hundreds of years ago. I can garrenty you it's in every home around the world in one room or more. Heck, it's also in most women's pocketbooks.

This wonderful device that I am talking about, you can find at your nearest store if you dont have a spare. When you see yourself at the store, you have found the speical device. It will "extend" your IR for you and some other stuff as well.

Rob is talking about a mirror (in case you did not understand) but yes they can be called extenders or repeaters

Besides, a Mirror will absolutely NOT "extend" IR. It might make it easier to bounce a signal around (as will a clean wall) but it won't make it travel any further than it would on its own in a straight line.

If you have to take the signal far, you have to re-encode it and transmit it with something that's not as lossy as light through the atmostphere. Whether this be with a more powerful RF transmitter/receiver system or through a wire. Then it can be decoded and blasted bakc out as IR on the other end.
