Another UD number crunching thread (so all those not interested exit now).

They've started a new project called, would you believe, ROSETTA; "Human Proteome Folding". Quite interesting, but of more concern to some is the time it takes to complete some of the tasks.

My record, so far, is;

4 days 23 hours 32 minutes 59 seconds

Can anybody beat it?

I'm glad you guys are staying on with the program.

I keep it on whenever my computer is on....... however, need new fans and/or power supply for my computer and a bigger hard drive, so it doesn't stay up and running as long as I'd like.

Money, however, is in short supply.

GOOD WORK, BOYS!!!

A quote I found on a calender. Thought it rather good myself . . . once I stopped laughing.

As it so happens, the machine I'm using at the moment has just about had it. Having already replaced the PSU, CPU cooler, floppy drive and screen it seems I now have either a motherboard or HDD problem. I turned the screen on a few weeks ago (the machine is usually left on all the time) to find that it had tried to restart itself (don't know why) and couldn't find either the primary master or slave HDD's. Not quite the best of Christmas presents.

Anyway, I've now, after a fashion, managed to get the primary back (the slave remains stubbornly elusive), but rather than wait for the seemingly inevitable I thought it best to get a new machine. This one, the one I'm using at the moment, I'll overhaul and give to the daughter. Then, when I get all three up and running (the boy's already got one), I'll see about setting up a wireless network and get them all running UD.

With this new PC I doubt I'm going to get anywhere near my record again. I've not even reached two days . . . yet.
