What is the best forum or another site to get help for a computer problem?
My problem is this... I am installing an Elan S12 system next week. I have downloaded the latest Beta version of Via tools 5.08 from a direct link i was given. When the setup starts i get a message that states... 16 bit windows subsystem... the system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.
It has been explained to me that since i am using Windows XP - 32 bit system - i can't run this 16 bit rpogram? This makes no sense to me since the techs at Elan do also use XP os. Anybody have a clue? Is there a setting i need to change? I am waiting for a call back from Elan's engineering dept.
Thanks for any help.
Mike

If you're truly having a problem with it, right click the executable, click on properties, and under compatibility have it run as a previous version of Windows.

The beta version of Via Tools 5 was only on the Elan Dealer website for one day before they pulled it to resolve some "issues".
Was at an Elan new products seminar a couple of weeks back, and whilst they did show us the new version, they pointed out that it had been pulled, however for the day it was up (11/08/04), I managed to download 5.0 beta, and it works fine for me on Windows XP.
