Hopefully someone can help me. My default font for Windows XP is now some sort of symbol.
How the hell do I change it back when I can't read what the menu items say? It's all boxes and moons and dots and squares.
And the font does not seem to be correct on the sites I visit either.

ljdsfh bfheriy hhyrt hgjrumc% The only thing that I could suggest is to reformate your hd. Remember last year I had the problem with my fonts being too big. It effect the pc files, and web sites. Well I reformatted, and it's been great ever since. dig

Have you tried playing around with the display/appearance screens? Could be the font has been changed there. Could also be a font file has become corrupted (try setting to another). Depending on the "sort of symbol" it could also be a video card or driver issue.

Does this happen everyware or just on the Internet? If just on the internet, click TOOLS,INTERNET OPTIONS,and on the General page select FONTS. Check the Language script and fonts. IF this is happening everyware try either starting in safe mode or deleting your video card from the control panel, either one should cause Winblows to use the default driver/font. You can then reinstall the driver or font.

It happens everywhere and I would say it might be the video chipset. It's an onboard Intel chipset and has been giving me problems lately.
Certain programs like Space Cadet pinball, when it would start, would cause the computer to crash and reboot. Then it gives me a "Serious Error" message when it rebooted.
Though I somehow was able to do a system restore and get it back to normal. Go figure!
The font it defaulted to was Marlett.

I know it doesn't help, but it's pleasing to know I'm not alone in having oddball things happen.
