Indeed it is, but the point I was trying to make was that not only did they not know the Tiber runs through Rome, they were obviously not aware that the Seine runs through Paris and the Rhine runs predominately through Germany, though there is a southern stretch that forms a part of the border between France and Germany. It's what I would consider to be basic secondary school (11-16) geography; a bit like Americans being taught the states (commonwealths) and Capitals thereof*.
*As a matter of interest, some years ago, when she was still at school, the daughter asked us that very question. The wife and I managed to get into the forties, which I thought was pretty reasonable considering it was "off the top of our heads".
