I recently switched to Firefox (on Win2K, switched from IE) and have a forum issue that I assume is cookie related. Since I switched the "New" thread notification has not changed. So those New buttons are basically useless.

Do I have a setting incorrect, or is this others' experience with Firefox as well?

Geez, after posting this, the situation seems to have corrected itself. Could that be because I posted a new thread? Really freaky timing, I just went back to another forum and it was correct.

I've set the timeout between "sessions" (ie. the time when it determines you've been away long enough to update the NEW icons) to something like 6 hours, so if you keep visiting every 5 hours and 59 minutes or sooner your NEW icons will never update :-)

Otherwise, posting a new thread doesn't affect the NEW cookie.

I am also having what looks to be cookie problems, but I use IE6, it looks to be set to 24h from instead of the time I was last in the forum. I don't know when the problem started, if it was with the change or after that when I reset all my cookies because I was having a problem with AVSforum (kept on getting logged out). What I did notice though was that when I did put in my name and password it accepted it and I did not need to get back into my account to set the cookie. I thought that it might be the issue (in the old days it was the save that fixed the cookie) but no, tried clearing all cookies, nothing happened.

Any other idea

Yup, looks like there actually was a bug - a single missing character from when I converted from an old style of joining lines to a new one. Basically, if you came across a forum you hadn't visited before (ie. you reset your cookies or changed browsers) it would only save the cookie for the LAST forum visited. I didn't notice since I haven't reset my cookies in ages.

It should be working now, but will take a day until you guys can see any difference.

Yeah, mine seems to be fine, too. Ever since I started this thread. Irony, ain't it a kick!

Seems to be back as of this weekend. Let's see if posting here again fixes it.
