According to [Link: windows.microsoft.com] (in Windows logo key keyboard shortcuts section) this key combination will display the desktop, basically an alternate way to minimize WMC. As far as I can tell, I need to minimize WMC in order to execute desktop shortcuts, such as Suspend.

Hex code, to be used in ProntoPro NG TSU7000, would be much appreciated.

I'm open to other solutions, too.

All you need to do is send the power command to the computer, depending on how the computer is configured, it will either go into a power on suspend, hibernate, or just turn off.  Here are the toggle bit commands.

Thanks, Macross, but I'm not looking for power toggle. I'm trying to implement discrete power for my HTPC, like this:  [Link: remotecentral.com].  But it seems in Win7 at least, desktop shortcuts don't work when WMC is full screen.

So I'm looking for an IR command that will allow me to minimize WMC or switch to desktop, which I will follow with the desktop shortcut.

you can use a program called Eventghost to do what you want to do.

eventghost.org

you can assign any incoming IR code to any macro of your creation, including shutting down the computer.

Got it!

Harmony has a device called Windows Media Center SE that has a lot of keyboard shortcuts that I haven't seen anywhere else [Link: forums.logitech.com]

I loaded this device into my Harmony remote, then used my Pronto to learn the IR.  Tested good for my IR receiver.
