AFAIK there are no discrete code's for on or off.  I use a voltage sensor with a processor to check power on status and then send the toad command.
Do or Do not, There is no Try.

Thanks: That is a good lead for me to investigate. What is the name of the sensor and processor you use?

I Use RTI, and there is a voltage/Signal sensing built into every Remote Processor that they make, Even the entry level RP-1.

You can also use a flag status check to see if you have sent the command before, with a standalone RTI remote, in a macro.

I just examined the back of my Television Monitor: I have a xantech 789-44 connecting block which has its gnd status and IR conntected to screws on back of my sony. Connected to that is a 480-00 dinky link. I am beginning to realize that my original set up prevented power-toggling with the cable box but my new cable box and my old pronto are configured differently. My goal is to make sure that when I push cable on my pronto that it does not turn tv off only on.
