Hello all, I'm reasonably new to this space, and was wondering if you could recommend any device that would allow me to send instructions from my computer over RS232 which would convert them to IR to control IR equipment.

Of course, my follow up question will be where can I get a list of IR (and RS232) commands for any given peice of audio/video equipment. Is there any single source, or is this going to be a monumental task.

thanks in advance
Ricardo

Xantech makes a RS232 to IR converter. www.xantech.com for more info. As for obtaining RS232 codes, it will depend on the manufacturer. Some have them in the owners manuals, other on their respective websites, and others will require some phone calls to tech support and hopefully you'll get a propeller head that will be able to help you.

RS232 to IR...

I assume that you can use almost any ASCII or HEX 232 command to trigger any IR command. Actually, you can download the Xantech manual at the site. www.xantech.com
