I could be way off here but its my best guess.

AMX purchased Matrix Audio so here is the manual for the 8 series matrix audio unit from AMX. almost identical product from what I can tell so I will assume manufacturing is the same and thus codes are the same. Give it a shot.

I saw that but it said Mi series so I ignored it and the pads that I have are not digital but with any luck the rs232 will be the same.
I'll give it a try and thanks a lot for looking. =)

I had this same problem last month, and after a bunch of searching and calls to AMX here you go:

4800 baud, 8 bits, no parity, no handshake
All characters sent in uppercase
Command sequence does not require carriage return

Power:
zone 1 on = Z11
zone 1 off = Z10
zone 2 on = Z21
Zone 2 off = Z20
etc
all on = ZA1
all off = ZA0

Sources:
z1 source 1 = S11
z2 source 4 = S24
easy!

Volume:
volume range is 00-31
zone 1 volume 15 = V115
zone 3 volume 8 = V308

volume ramp up zone 1 = V1++
volume ramp down zone 3 = V3--

Function Keys:
Fast forward zone 1 = F1F

F = >>
R = <<
S = pause/stop

there you go.

Did you try the codes in Post 4? Did you call AMX?

Codes are the same. What are you trying to control it with?

AMX is sadly of no help, sadly they no longer have the documentation
Yes I did try the codes is post 4 also, no luck there either

for testing just using a PC with a terminal emulator
I know I have a good connection as I can get back "ERR" if I send it enough junk
I am using 4800,8,n,1

my guess is that the baud rate is incorrect. Most Matrix audio and Nexus audio codes I have dealt with are at 9600.
