Just wanted to give you guys a heads up. This unit doesn't turn on with a play command like prior Samsung players. I'm not sure if this applies to other new Samsungs. I doubt that they deleted this feature and added discrete codes.

I ended up using the rear USB port with a voltage sensor to get it to work.

I think I got one to turn on with multiple play commands.

I installed a Samsung UN46ES6600 yesterday with a Strong tilt mount. The arms on this mount are pretty much the standard size that you get with most manufacturers. Samsung decided to have a bump out on the back that I am guessing is possibly for the speakers? Not sure. I know it creates an issue though:

The arm is as far down as it can go. It is resting on the bump out

This is the top of the arm while the bottom is resting on that bump out. You can see the hole does not line up so the arm would have to be raised. Of course the arm would then be visible.

No choice but to space the arms off the TV in order to get this basic bracket to work on this TV.

Thankfully, I do not use their BDP's. I can't stand them.

I would use sony if i had the choice, but these are the players that the builder installs on the boat.  Next time i might just swap it out with a sony.  this time i had a processor capable of voltage sensing.

It isnt so simple.  The builder is our parent company.  The head elecrical engineer decides what they use.  I dont have an engineering degree so he doesnt listen to my input.   The boats come with bose systems, off brand tv lifts, samsung tvs, and samsung bluray players.  I dont mind the tvs.  Everything else causes major headaches.

i should send you a control system drawing for how we have to deal with the crappy tv lifts and new bose systems.

Ok, why not just raise the bracket up and cut it off? I mean if you were in a pinch. . I remember putting a mount like this in a vise and cutting off what I needed with a grinder, painting it and installing. The second time this happened, I just drilled the hole on the mount out bigger using a large washer.

I have cut them in the past, and there are several ways to make it work. My point was simply that the people that engineer these things never look at the whole picture.

Let me tell you something.... i am in a slow process to HATE Samsung. a few years ago I would not sell anything but a Samsung. Lately, i realized their products are Crap.

the 6000 series now have the damn HDMI ports straight in the back - Crap

all the blu-ray players do not have analog audio anymore (zone 2 in the receiver will now need a digital to analog converter) - Crap

The ac plug is too close to the bolts in the back and the mount will block it - Crap

A cheaper LG tv remote acts like a mouse and cursor that is WAY easier to navigate in the smarthub. Samsung comes with the crap smart remote with voice activation. I mean, the first time you show the customer it is really cool, after that it is CRAP.

How many times have you replaced older samsungs with bad Caps in the PSU clicking on and off ? this is not bad luck. this is LOW QUALITY components they use. For the price they charge, they should be using top notch freaking caps.

I am migrating to LG. I personally thinks that is more cost effective now. They have beautiful no edge, thin, sleek models. What do you guys think? as you can see i am really mad about samsung.

LG's LCD PC quality is crap. LGs in general are garbage. The engineers have really flushed the toilet on the quality of samsungs lately. Like Techsquid im starting to realy despise them and i am starting to charge more if a customer insists on one. I have also knoticed that the PC quality of them has also been flushed down the toilet.

Im starting to warm back up to sony, installed a customer supplied one over the past week and it was nice, smartly layed out int he back too.

I wish i could just install panasonics, i was never really a plasma guy but the new ones are gorgeous and dont have to be spaced out like every new samsung completely negating the thin mounts and TV's. I guess the engineers just assume everyone uses they sorry ass excuse for a mount.
