I have not tried Sofabaton. I see reviews are all over the place. Gonna hold out and just keep using my old reliable URC equipment

I have tried the Sofabaton and not ready for prime time in my opinion. We tried it to hopefully offer a lower cost remote for our customers. It is really difficult to set up an idiot proof remote with it. Some geeks might like it, but don't give it to grandma. It also takes a lot of pre-planning to get good reliable interface with it. You can't customize the interface easily like you can on a URC, RTI, etc.

One thing I did like about it. It can do Bluetooth remotes. If URC could do that with CCP and total control that would be great! The stupid part is you can't use BT commands in a macro. I have an Epson UST projector here that it can work with the BT if using the Epson as a device. But no BT commands in a macro so I can't go to an input or turn on/off the Epson. Luckily the Epson also accepts IR so I had to use that for macros.

I don't know of too many good, easy solutions for the DIY. My 22yo tech savvy son hated this remote. I had my girlfriend and my mother try it on my system. They didn't like it all. Not intuitive to switch between devices and functions. Both said it was junk with other choice words. They both have URC in their houses and are "spoiled" by those remotes. My Epson UST system in my family room is back on its total control system which no one has a problem using.
