LOL!!!
I'm sorry but I had to pick this out. WHY would you think this?
There are many differences between residential made displays and commercial made displays. The panel and how long it would last, is NOT one of them.

Here's a link showing that the Planar commercial displays are made for 24/7 operation- the Samsung, Hitachi, Fujitsu & Pioneer models I have worked with stated the same.

Everyone in my family has a flat panel TV I took out of a customers home, when they upgraded. When I don't have a good home for it I deliver it to a thrift store and let them deal with it.

This has nothing to do with the panel. It is the same panel used in both residential models & commercial models. The difference is in the feature set, styling, and 'arguably' more robust power supply.
24/7 is marketing BS, residential models can usually go 24/7 just as long. There is no need for the marketing department to mention this for residential use. So you only see EVERY manufacture of a commercial display talk about "How there display is made to go 24/7". Well if the residential model couldn't as well, I think that to be really shitty.

This isnt exactly true.

Most residential panels may go 24/7 for a week.. Maybe even a month or 2. but not for 6months to a year. and more.

The power supplies are important parts of commercial displays, but more important is the cooling... It needs efficient cooling that's not going to fail.

Think about how often we seen residential panels at bars and other places that run them to death. How good do they look? How often are they Matched? They dont have 5 different brands of TV's all over the bar because they are making a statement. Its because they had to replace panels randomly because they broke.

That being said, a 10+year old 1024x768 panel is still junk.

This isn’t exactly correct either. We had a Sharp 60” and a LG 43” in a show room that ran 24/7 for about 3 years. I left them on all the time because the store was in a shopping center with a lot of foot traffic after our business hours. The 60” is still running in a friends house now and the 43” is in my daughter’s room and runs several ours a day.

Temperature cycles associated with constant ON/OFF switching is one of the more significant stresses. 24/7 is only one cycle.
