I guess we will have in n out Burger [Link: kdvr.com]

Sweet, I am several hundred miles from an IN & Out these days. I have no idea where a 5 guys is located, Carl's Jr. is about 80 miles from me. I'm not much of a fast food fan, nor do I eat many burgers theses days. I grew up near one of the original In & Out's next to the hospital they used for the TV show "Emergency". So a double double is just a burger I've grown up with and enjoy on a very rare occasion these days. I've had 5 Guys a few times and they are decent.

In & Out is big on fresh, their mantra is to have supply close enough to keep fresh food coming in. No freezers for meat, and they slice the potatoes as needed. Kind of cool to watch as you are sitting at a packed drive through.

So back to the original topic; who has has Siri and Alexa start a conversation based on something said on the TV? I unplugged Alexa shortly after that one. I have 2 around here without power attached.

I have told people that I want to start an argument between Siri and Alexa, then leave. I expect to see a SWAT team when I return.
My mechanic told me, "I couldn't repair your brakes, so I made your horn louder."

I might as well unplug the Firestick with Alexa. It will never respond to me. Same thing with my Amazon reader.

I guess it heard me say "Amazon sucks!" too many times...LOL

We were watching TV once, sober, with Alexa near the TV and my iPhone on the coffee table. Alexa responded to the TV, the Siri chimed in, I’m assuming to Alexa. I’ll empathize that we were sober, and I was not the only one in the room listening to this exchange.

I think voicecontrol in cars where you need to keep your eyes looking forward and your hands on the wheel are good. Voice/sound control in your home , not so useful, for instance I don't want my GF talking to a smart assistant while I am trying to sleep beside her , I don't want someone talking while I am trying to watch a movie... and I am sure if most people think about it they would agree with that. On the other hand I think there is a lot of room for smart door bells with cameras and smart thermostats that can change the temperature at a distance using your tablet/phone

We don't mess with Alexa or any other spy devices. If the client wants that nonsense it's on them to set it up/figger it out.

We install Ring at normal labor+parts rate, but we don't sell or recommend.

Other than streaming audio and video we try not to get involved in the whole IoT cluster****.

This is our stand as well, and too be honest I haven't had a customer ask us to integrate it into their system. Its easier to use a remote or app than to yell at Siri, Alexa, or Google four times but still need to use your remote, app, keypad anyways because your wording is incorrect or you forgot that you needed to say "LightS" instead of "Light".
You can't fix stupid
