Client is having a problem with a Fire Stick. Can't get programming. This post used to describe the problem.
It's not that.
She chose some time during the last year to have someone install that in her system. He set it up to get all sorts of programming. Then there was a falling out and he won't talk to her.
Fire Stick doesn't work now. She figured out after I wrote this post the first time that he probably cancelled her account. She thinks it was in his name. All very suspicious.
How silly we people are.
So I'm going over there to hook her up again. So, no problem (I hope).

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw
"Firestick doesn't work now" sounds like the service issues that get reported to me as "the crestron doesnt work". "Crestron doesn't work" can mean anything from the remote needs batteries to the cable box is locked up to the entire neighborhoods power is out.
Firestick is Amazons version of the Apple TV. Is she having issues with a single app or all the apps or the Firestick itself? Based on the rest of the post i assume you mean the client no longer has access to specific streaming services like Prime Video/Netflix/YouTube TV.
I see "hacked fire stick" and "unlocked fire stick" posts on facebook. I don't know anything about that but i assume someone has figured out how to make paid content FREE. You may be correct that her "water was cut off" (a phrase i heard long ago that means the free ride is over).

You visit facebook? Haven't you heard? The Queen of the Monsters has this to say about your source:
Mac, it's worse than you imagined and it's worse than I imagined. She had some guy install a Fire Stick and whatever he did to create an account left her thinking that it was his account. And now it doesn't work. It's a big soap opera. I'll update the crowd when this is finished.

the sad thing is that so many of these people are oblivious to the fact that they are stealing the content they are watching.
The really sad part is the industry’s reaction to this theft is the HDCP madness that costs everyone more money because of extra chips incorporated into anything that can touch copyrighted material and the mess that we face trying to make things easier for the user to manage.
Thanks, highfigh, no, I had not seen that. But I'm taking it with me.
Starting about fifteen years ago I predicted that in the future, companies like DirecTV would change their business model to "we just want to charge EVERYBODY ten bucks a month." That would radically increase their business.
This idea came from thinking about TV commercials put out by Blue Diamond Almonds, a California company. A nice family-atmosphered scenario had them asking for our business. The tag line was "a can a week, that's all we ask." Since I had bought the equivalent of about three cans a year, 52 cans a year would signal a YUGE increase in their business!

Solved. Unit was programmed with installer's name. Reset the unit and changed registration to my client. Suddenly, movies with images.
Am now going back to factory default and will add client's Amazon and Netflix account info.
This was indeed the fault of an installer who said my client could get everything for free.
I wonder how he makes his money.
