I just replaced my laptop which upgraded me to windows XP. I am using a belkin usb to serial adapter which I was using on my desktop with win 98. I downloaded the new driver for it for winxp. The pronto edit opens com 1(which is where the belkin is installed) but doesn't get a response from RC. I have tried different com ports but nothing seems to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Good Luck! Have had the same problem for 6 months. Sometimes it might work, sometimes it works once and then you have to do a restart. Very agravating to have a new laptop that runs 10 time faster than my old one, but the old one with Windows98 works everytime.

When I first got my XP laptop, I had a similar problem with another program (not PE). I later discovered the Windows Fax Service was causing the trouble.

Do a Ctrl-Alt-Del, and start removing running apps and services, one at a time...
