Replay TV. Notice how the remote is almost an exact copy of the TiVo Peanut? They probably figured that training the dog to eat the remote was the best way to hurt the competition.
Okay, was just reading "Inside A Dog" by Alexandra Horowitz. Dogs don't recognize or care about shapes unless trained by repetition to even notice the shapes. With a remote, they want that fantastc chewed-plastic taste, but more than that, they want your body scent in their faces, that odoriferous bit of KFC grease that you thought was not still on your fingers, the bits of salt left after you changed the channel while eating barbecue potato chips. Don't get me started on femotes handled by kids!
edit: all typos due to me typing that on my Droid 2.

A good answer is easier with a clear question giving the make and model of everything. "The biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place." -- G. “Bernie” Shaw
I think this is a great idea. I'm going to send one to every one of our customers that has a dog.
"sorry mr customer, manufacturer warranties do not cover dog chew. How many remotes did fido get? I will send someone out in the morning with new ones"
It's recurring revenue. :)
